On May 3, 2000, a five-gallon bucket was placed right at this very spot by Dave Ulmer, containing Delorme Topo USA and 2 CD Roms, a cassette recorder, a "George of the Jungle" VHS tape, a Ross Perot book, 4 $1 bills, a slingshot handle, and a very famous can of beans (now the O.C.B. T.B.!) The coordinates were then listed on the Internet and modern-day Geocaching was born. The first finder of that first cache was Mike Teague, who took the money and left some cigarettes, a cassette tape and a pen. Although that original bucket was severely damaged by an Oregon Road Crew mower and is no longer around, TEAM 360 and many other concerned geocachers recognized the importance of that event which happened here and dedicate this ORIGINAL STASH TRIBUTE PLAQUE on behalf of cachers everywhere. Wildlife Muggles Sneaky Antlers Polished Nickel Soft Enamel geocoin. This is a really cute coin and a must have for anyone who collects geocoins. The coin is unactivated and trackable on geocaching.com with it's own icon. All of the money's raised will be used for a very special family and a very special young lady. Cystic Fibrosis is an incurable disease which usually begins in infancy, is potentially fatal and affects multiple body systems such as lungs, pancreas, skeleton and skin. Some of the many symptoms of C F include bronchitis, pneumonia, respiratory failure, diabetes, nutritional deficiencies, and failure to thrive. Therapy is individualized and carefully monitored and will need to be continued throughout life. For any parent, it would be devastating to learn that your child has this incurable disease, but the family we have designed this coin for has had twice the amount of devastation and heartbreak as two of their children have been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. The first born, Kaitlyn, age 13, was born 8 weeks early weighing 4lbs. 4oz. and required surgery on her first day of life, diagnosed with (Meconium illeus) a bowel obstruction. She was diagnosed with CF during her 1 month stay at Valley Children’s Hospital. Until she finally stabilized at age 3, she required numerous hospitalizations due to pneumonia and failure to thrive. At 8 years old, she required a gastrostomy tube (a feeding tube in her abdomen) to maintain her weight. In the last 1 ½ years her health has declined and hospitalizations became more frequent. At this time, she is in the hospital due to respiratory difficulty and in need of a lung transplant in the very near future. The family’s worst fears were confirmed 1 ½ years after Kaitlyn’s birth when doctors performed an amniocentisis on Jill (Kaitlyn’s mother) and diagnosed Kaitlyn’s baby brother (Jerrod) with CF before he was born. Jerrod required frequent hospitalizations during infancy and by the age of 7, his lungs were failing. Jerrod was rushed to Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles and was given a successful lung transplant. At that time Jerrod was one of the youngest people ever to survive a successful lung transplant. All of the profits from the sales of these Geocoin Secret Agent coins and other coins will be given to this family to assist in paying for Kaityln’s lung transplant. A number of wonderful people have also donated coins, which will be included in the GSA auctions and auctioned off seperately. NEW 2006 Dont Tread On Me Geocaching Geocoin. The front of the coin has a snake and the words Dont Tread On Me. THIS IS THE FIRST COIN DESIGNED BY FURBRAT AND BREWER CHEF. IT HAS THE GADSDEN FLAG DON'T TREAD ON ME RATTLESNAKE ON THE BACK AND THE BETSY ROSS FLAG ON THE FRONT. HERE IS A LITTLE HISTORY OF BOTH: The Betsy Ross flag was adopted June 14, 1777 (Flag Day). The Continental Congress on this day resolved, "That the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes alternating red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation". The circular design was by George Washington, Francis Hopkins and Betsy Ross. The Congress however did not specify an arrangement for the stars in the canton, as a result there are many variations in the flags that followed until 1912. The Gadsden flag is a historical American flag. It is comprised of a yellow field with a depiction of a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike with the legend "DONT TREAD ON ME" positioned below the rattlesnake. It is named after Christopher Gadsden. The symbol of the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake as a symbol of the American colonies can be traced back to the publications of Benjamin Franklin. In 1751, he made the first reference to the rattlesnake in a satirical commentary published in his Pennsylvania Gazette. It had been the policy of Britain to send convicted criminals to America, and Franklin suggested that they thank the British by sending rattlesnakes to England. ALSO... The first Marines that enlisted were from Philadelphia and they carried drums painted yellow, depicting a coiled rattlesnake with thirteen rattles, and the motto "Dont Tread On Me.". This is the drawing for the first of the Team Roboknight Bird series Geocoins. There will be either 3 or 4 in the issue. There were only 25 minted of this version. This is limited to only trades or special sales. I have a few left so I am putting it up for sale. The 75 edition of this coin had a red front this version has a beautiful blue front. The first issue is one of my favorite birds: a Mockingbird. On the back a cartoon of two cachers in the woods a bit confused actually. The mockingbird mocks one of the cachers with a countdown and one of the cachers is puzzled since his gps says he is at GZ and hearing the birds mock thought it was his fellow cacher answering. The Geodetic Center geocoin in the original sleeve. These are nice coins and are finished in antique copper. They are a full 2" in diameter and very well done. These are a beautiful reddish copper finish. A rendition of the Historic Meades Ranch Benchmark, these coins have been very popular and this one is one of one hundred minted in this beautiful antique copper finish. This coin is the nicest of the three finishes and only 100 were done. These are very well done, they have the coordinates for the geodetic center, the Kansas State Seal as it is in Kansas, and a brief history of the mark. 1701eh Memorial geocoin. Tony Dawe (1701eh), an Ontario geocacher, was in a fatal car accident on Saturday August 26th in the Ingersoll area of Ontario.
